Celebrating 15 Years In Business

This year we proudly celebrate our 15th anniversary. In this time we've gained a lot of experience working with local governments and the vendors who serve them. We especially appreciate the local government organizations that have served as our Lead Public Agencies in the public RFP process. Together, we have facilitated the development and use of hundreds of contracts used by thousands of organizations. Your support has made us a leader in public procurement solutions. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the public sector and for trusting us with your procurement needs. As we continue to expand our contract portfolio, staff and services, we look forward to many more years of being your preferred cooperative procurement program.

FirstNet 101

In the midst of a natural disaster or emergency crisis, communication among first responders is paramount. The ability, or inability, to communicate with each other could make a life saving difference. FirstNet seeks to close the current communications gap for public safety personnel. Here are the key things you need to know about FirstNet:

- What is it? Simply put, it is a nationwide, high-speed broadband network designed specifically for public safety with true priority and preemption. Non-mission critical voice capabilities will also be available. Public safety agencies should continue to maintain their land mobile radio (LMR) systems for the foreseeable future for mission critical voice.
- Where are they in the process? Proposals in resonse to the RFP were due May 31. According to FirstNet’s proposed schedule, it plans to award the contract in late 2016. When this happens, FirstNet and its partner will work to roll out a nationwide deployment plan.
- What’s next? The next step is to award the RFP. Once awarded, FirstNet will work with the vendor to create a deployment plan and schedule. The deployment plan will incorporate public safety, tribal, federal and state/territory feedback collected during the consultation process related to coverage objectives, rural priorities and other state/territory specific factors.

Stay tuned for more exciting FirstNet news and related contracts!
